All over the San Francisco Bay Area, there are signs next to all the drain openings that say, “No Dumping. Drains to Bay.”
Seeing one of these signs during my walk this morning, I remembered verse 4.26 from Bhagavad-gita in which Krsna mentions how serious practitioners in spiritual life sacrifice the hearing process, “restraining themselves from the vibrations of material sounds.”
Remembering this, I imagined my ears to be similar to those many openings around the city that “drain to the Bay.”
The vibrations I allow to enter my ears will not of course drain to the San Francisco Bay. They will however, flow into my heart and consciousness and remain there for a long time.
Chose carefully what you allow in. “No dumping.”
