A snake naturally sheds its skin once a year. But, if one were to prematurely cut the skin from a snake, the snake would die.
Similarly, a bhakti yogi who maintains his or her daily bhakti practice and who avoids offences, naturally develops taste for the process of bhakti and ascends to the highest stages of love for Krishna. However, one who impulsively imitates the activities of advanced devotees, only causes havoc in the society of devotees and stays his or her progress on the path of bhakti.
