On the Way to Budapest

Sometimes people ask how they can “see” Krishna. But, scripture advises that we first try to “hear” Krishna.

For instance, in the following verse, Narada Muni tells his disciple, Srila Vyasadeva, that one who chants and hears the authorized mantra, comes to see and know Krishna completely.

“Thus he is the actual seer who worships, in the form of transcendental sound representation, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vishnu, who has no material form.” (Bhag. 1.5.38)

In this verse, Narada uses the word “amurtikam.” “Murti,” means both form and difficulty . Acarya, Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura says that by receiving the authorized mantra from a bona fide spiritual master and serving the mantra (by regularly chanting and hearing it), one easily revives his spiritual senses and comes to know and see Krishna fully.

People today are keen to create and use software programs that do apparently marvelous things like calculating long strings of numbers or creating life-like graphics.

However, the mantras one receives through disciplic succession free us from birth, death, old age and disease and reveal the all-attractive Lord, Krishna.

With gratitude and affection,

Vaisesika Dasa
