Our capacity to think is a great gift. But, it is a gift that humans often take for granted or neglect altogether. Noting this, Thomas Edison wrote: “There is no expedient to which a man will not revert to avoid the labor of thinking.”
How we develop and direct our thinking power is vital however, because at the time of death, our thoughts carry us to our next destination. And one who remembers Krishna upon leaving his body will go back to Him in the spiritual world.
Bhakti yogis therefore, daily read the Srimad-Bhagavatam, which was written especially to help us think of Krishna.
In his introduction to the Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srila Prabhupada writes:
“Just to transfer their thinking power to the spiritual sky, Krishna-dvaipayana Vyasa has given a great number of Vedic literatures.”
