One doesn’t have to be a great scholar to offer prayers to the Lord. One must simply be sincere.
Prahlada Maharaja confirms this in his prayers to Lord Nrsimhadeva:
“Therefore, although I was born in a demoniac family, I may without a doubt offer prayers to the Lord with full endeavor, as far as my intelligence allows. Anyone who has been forced by ignorance to enter the material world may be purified of material life if he offers prayers to the Lord and hears the Lord’s glories.” (SB 7.9.12)
Also, in Bhaktirasamrita Sindhu in his list of the sixty-four items on how to discharge devotional service, Rupa Goswami lists, “One must recite notable prayers.” (#16)
There are so many notable prayers in Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-bhagavatam and so on, that one will never come to the end of them.
Relish learning and reciting these prayers as doing so awakens pure bhakti within the heart.
