Tirupati, India
After three very long consecutive flights, what to speak of the ordeal of passing through numerous security check points and waiting in various lines – I landed in India at New Delhi’s, Indira Gandhi airport.
Weary from traveling, I got off the jet and walked down the lengthy corridor to the immigration checkpoint. As I approached immigration and was looking to find the shortest queue to join, an immigration officer behind one of the desks designated for diplomats and which had no line, called me and motioned for me to come to his desk.
When I reached his both he asked, “Are you with ISKCON?” I said, “Yes.” Smiling, he replied, “Radhe Radhe.” Next, he said, “I am from Mathura. I wanted to be the first one to welcome you to India.”
At once all the fatigue of my travels evaporated and instead I felt exhilaration remembering that I had come for performing service, that I would soon be in the dhama, and that Lord Krishna was kindly watching over me.
