Integrity is the quality of being honest to others as well as to oneself. Or as author Spencer Johnson writes: “Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people.”
Spiritual integrity develops in one who diligently applies the principles and practices of bhakti yoga even when it seems that no one is watching.
In such moments of apparent solitude – when one does one’s service simply to please Krishna and one’s spiritual master – the seed of integrity sprouts in one’s heart.
The bhakti gardener, who achieves this fortune, must continue watering the seedling of integrity by regularly applying the principles of bhakti through the various seasons of her life.
When thus cultivated, the seedling grows into a sapling, which matures into an immovable tree. The potent words of the mature devotee are the tree’s succulent fruits.
The bhakti gardener, heavy with the fruits of integrity, may spend his or her life joyfully distributing them.
Those who taste these fruits become spontaneously attracted to a life of selfless service in devotion to Krishna.
